Honeymoon - Day 9 & 10

Ok, so we are long home from our oh so wonderful honeymoon.  I figured that I made it thus far with the blog updates that I better finish it out.  After we arrived at Seatac we had plans with my parents to go fishing in Seiku for 2 days.  It was a bit of a gear shift from typical honeymoon behavior, but we both really wanted to catch a big ol' salmon.

We arrived back in Seattle around 2:30 on Thrusday, grabbed our car from the park and ride and took off for the Edmonds/Kingston ferry just outside Everett.  The trip up to Seiku took about 4 hours.  We were planning on tent camping for 2 nights and my parents were in their camper, but the rain came and we had no tarp to keep our tent from getting all damp and yucky.  So when my dad woke Kam up at 7am on Friday to try the morning bite, my mom and I rented us a cabin.  A very rustic fishing cabin.  It was so much fun and we were glad to have a place to hang out at night that was warm and dry.

No fish came home with us that day, but Kam did officially catch his first salmon.  Unfortunately it was a native silver and you could only keep hatchery fish at the time. We fished Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, left Seiku around 11 on Friday and went to spend the night in Hoquiam and pick up our pup.  We were home in Spokane on Saturday evening and had all Sunday to unpack and relax.

Our honeymoon was just want we wanted.  A little hiking, a little pampering, a lot of yummy beer, tons of fun and laughs, all mixed up with some spontaneity.  It was great on the trip back to Spokane to try and remember what we did each day.  I'm so glad I took the time to share our trip with everyone, it gives us a place to check back in the future to remember all the fun times we had on our trip.  Still waiting on wedding photos from my awesome photographer.  I should be kicking back into cook mode here soon.  Still have a few things to finish up around the house.  Thanks for reading along!

Honeymoon - Day 7 & 8

Well Vegas got the best of me when it came time to the daily update.  But man did we have fun.  We have been all over this city.  Monday we had a breakfast buffet (you can't go to Vegas without going to at least one buffet) then walked from the New York New York (where we stayed) down to Caesar's Palace and hit up the forum shops.  Last time I was in Vegas with my mom, we sat at the Keno bar at Caesar's and drank bloody mary's and played keno, so Kam and I kept that tradition alive.  So fun and the bloody mary's are good too!  Then Monday night we decided we wanted to go to the Knights show at the Excalibur.  So tacky but fun.  Why wouldn't you want to eat a mini chickens with your hands and hoop and holler at a bunch of guys in silly costumes riding horses.  We were Norway.  We lost.

Tuesday we went to the aquarium at Mandalay Bay Casino.  In Vegas now there are what look like Slurpee stands every where you go.  But oh no, those are not slurpee stands, they are frozen booze stands.  Kam made a commitment the minute he saw them that he was going to hit one of those up.  They even have the tacky 2 foot long cups.  So it must have been about noon and Kam had his first boozie drink.  Then after the aquarium he talked me into having one too.  Those suckers are strong.  So we drank our drinks and walked down the strip grabbing beers from the marts along the way.  We walked all the way to the Venetian then came back and had dinner at a trendy Mexican Grill.  Kam is still talking about his "f'N DELICIOUS" tequila baby back ribs.  He smelled his fingers this morning to make sure they still smelled like bbq.

So here we sit in the airport waiting for our 11:15 flight.  We are off the Seiku to meet my parents toning for salmon fishing for the next two days.  So we wake up in Vegas and we go to bed in a tent in a fishing village.  This will probably be my last post for a few days because there is no way there is going to be free wi-fi floating in the air for me to steal.  Our Kam and Bren customized honeymoon extravaganza is starting to wind down.  We have had an awesome trip, but are looking forward to our little apartment and for life to get back to normal.  We miss our pup too.  I wonder if my work has replaced me for good yet.  Until next time....(probably friday)!

Honeymoon - Day 6 Update

Ok, so here is the scoop on how we got to Vegas.  

Sunday we knew we were leaving Whistler.  The whole time we had been planning this honeymoon we had up to Whistler planned, we thought we would head over to Naniamo, BC but we were kind of sick of Canada.  Not that Canada isn't beautiful and fun and tons of stuff to do, w e just lived in Friday Harbor for almost 3 years and felt like we had already done this.  We needed something exciting.

So Saturday night we started to get a little bummed about our next move.  We were sitting in our room, around 5 pm, trying to decide where to go next, and I just threw (not seriously at all) that we could go to Vegas.  So Kam jumped, grabbed the computer, and found a good deal.  Booked by 6pm and our flight was at 5:45 the next day.  So here we are in Vegas.  I have some pictures to share for day 7 after tonight.  We are loving our honeymoon.

Ps... Mom don't worry, we wouldn't missing fishing for anything!  See you Wednesday night.

Honeymoon - Day 5

ZIPLINE!!!!!  or zoom as they called it.  So fun fun fun!  At first when you zip down the first line (after the practice one where they teach you how to land) and you are dropping over some giant valley going 60 mph, on a line they call Godzilla, its a little adrenaline overwhelming. Not to mention Kam was 8 pounds short of the weight limit, and the more you weigh the faster you go. But you quickly get the hang of it.  We had a blast.  I think we would have zipped all over Whistler that day.  There were two company's that do zipline tours in Whistler and we chose the one that had duel lines so we could zip around side by side...although Kam always beat me to the bottom.

As for Whistler, we had fun, but we were happy to leave.  It's like Disneyland for hard core, outdoor sports, super athletic, rich people.  None of which we really are.  We had some ok food, alright beers for too much money.  We are glad we went and were happy to go. Honeymoon - Day 4

Travel and relax.  We left Squamish early in the morning and headed for Whistler where we had a spa appointment.  Before we left on our trip we knew at some point we wanted to get a massage.  We found this awesome spa with all these different pools, (well they call them baths but they were basically giant hot tubs and mini pools) a sauna that was made from cedar and smelled amazing, and a steam room.  It was so fun.

We started off the morning with a 9am massage then off to the "baths." What they want you to do is get into a hot bath or steam room and get your body all hot then plunge into a cold bath.  So thats what we did.  Bounce from sauna to cold bath to hot tub to cold bath.  We could have stayed all day, but after about 2 hours we decided we were pruned enough.

So we had a 4pm check in at our hotel just on the side of the Whistler Village.  Nice location, but they let us into our room late.  This time we have a little kitchenette which is nice.  We ran to the grocery store and got some yogurt and breakfast stuff.  I've hit the I want home cooked food wall.

Last night we went for a walk around the village, had a light dinner and came back to the room.  Pretty low key.  I didn't take any pictures yesterday so I don't have much to share.  I did grab these photos off the spa's website so you can get a visual of how the place worked!  www.scandinave.com/en/whistler

Honeymoon - Day 3

Explore. We just explored the area. The beach, the spit, the river...we found all the popular areas and explored each. It was wonderful, but other than that, I don't have too much to share.  So just enjoy the photos.

Such a beautiful and amazing place in the world!  We may go grab some more gelato tonight, but I'm not sure yet. Tomorrow we will leave Howe Sound, but I'm not sure how picture filled that day will be. Hope everyone is enjoying these posts!  We can't wait until Whistler! 

Honeymoon - Day 2

Well, remember this picture from my previous post...

yeah, we hiked to the top of that today.  Wow, it was a serious hike.  So beautiful and unique, but crazy.  We hiked a little over 655 meters (just over 1200 feet) in a little over a mile.  Phew!  We took lots of breaks on the way up, but the way down we cruised right along.  Our legs were so shaky when we made it back to the car, my muscles were like jello.  But it was so worth it.  

We started that hike at 9am and were back in the room just before 1pm. We came back and just chilled for a while, then went to this cute little open air restaurant for a early dinner that we were recommended by a local guy.  It was right on the river, the color of the water was amazing!  I had some awesome fish tacos, shocking I know!  

Kam had a fantasy football draft at 7:15 with his Ames coworkers, so we decided to spend the evening in the pub down stairs so he could at least draft a few players.  We were already planning on spending a little time in the pub tonight so it just worked out.

No plans for tomorrow yet, but we booked some seriously fun stuff for Whistler today!
